About Whiddons Bistro

Paul, Andrea & Shelby would like to welcome you to our family run Restaurant & Tea Rooms, where good food and a cosy atmosphere awaits you.

We are now the proud new owners of this beautiful 16th century thatched restaurant in the heart of one of the friendliest towns in Devon, Chagford.

ALL of our dishes are prepared here in our kitchen by Paul and our ingredients are sourced, as much as possible, from the finest of Devon’s abundant fresh produce including cream and ice cream, to fish, meat, fruit and vegetables.

A variety of teas and our special filter coffee, ground and roasted here in Devon can be enjoyed along with homemade cakes, flapjacks, scones and other goodies!

We have a varied Lunch Menu including a choice of 4 ploughman’s and Daily Specials. As well as Vegetarian options we also offer a selected range of Gluten Free Dishes.

In the evenings take advantage of us being unlicensed and bring your own wine as we offer free corkage. Our menu is 2 courses for £23 and 3 courses for £27 coffee or tea and mints are also included in the price. Sunday Lunch is £18 for 2 courses and £22 for 3 courses, again, coffee or tea plus mints are also inclusive.

We can cater for private parties of up to 16 in our front room and 14 in our back room. In the afternoons or evenings, we can open the back room for meetings, clubs or any “get togethers”.

This restaurant is a small gem, and a much better choice than the restaurants at the hotels next door. Only six tables, all served by the very nice and service minded owner, while her husband do the cooking at the kitchen. All in all, a very special and rewarding evening, something that will stay as a memory from Chagford and our holiday in South-west England.

We had our first visit to Whiddons Eatery last night and it will certainly not be our last. From booking the table through to departure on the night everything was lovely. The management are extremely attentive to detail, the food was excellent and very good value for money and the restaurant ambience perfect.
